Sisters sprint past fundraising goal in HEAL marathon fundraiser TWO sisters are celebrating after shattering their fundraising target for HEAL by running in the Brighton Marathon. “We never imagined that we’d raise so much, and are very pleased that our difficulty walking and inability to get up stairs is all for such a good cause!” joked Lilli Thomson. Lilli and Lucia sporting their HEAL running gear for the Brighton Marathon Along with sister Lucia they set a joint target of £500, but quickly flew past that and at the last count had raised an amazing £1,725.33. “We’d like to thank everyone for all the support. It was a pretty incredible day, probably the most physically and psychologically challenging thing we’ve ever done, but totally worth it for the amount we raised! “The atmosphere and the crowds were amazing, it helped that we had particularly loud and lovely friends and family who come down to support on the day, both of us have said we probably wouldn’t have got through it without them. “Oh, and the prosecco at the end was just as amazing as we’d hoped it would be!” All the money raised will go directly to help HEAL’s work in placing severely disadvantaged children in India into education, and both girls hope to see for themselves just what sort of a difference their donation makes. “We’re really happy to have contributed to HEAL – hopefully we’ll be able to visit one day. It’s definitely on the bucket list and we’d love to see where the donations end up.” If you would like to support HEAL by being sponsored for an event like Lilli and Lucia, sponsoring a child, or making a one-off donation, please visit the HEAL website.
