Feverish activity pays off as Jasti Kameswari Preschool is launched Teachers hold the first lesson in the new Paradise Village preschool THE primary school and preschool block at Paradise Village has been the site of feverish activity recently with work going on long into the night in preparation for HEAL Day 2016. Builders and painters did their part to have the area ready before staff and students took over to have the outdoor auditorium prepared and decorated for the biggest date in the HEAL calendar, February 17. HEAL Day celebrations took place in the new outdoor central auditorium in the preschool and primary school block at Paradise Village HEAL founder Dr Satya Prasad Koneru had been eagerly looking forward to the stunning performance space being used and will not have been disappointed as everything came together for a magnificent and memorable showpiece occasion. The second HEAL Day was a rousing success, with students from HEAL projects at Guntur, Thotapalli, Kanuru and Bhadrachalam all taking to the stage to produce a string of colourful and highly entertaining music and dance routines. HEAL Day prize-giving The event, attended by guest of honour ZP Chairperson Smt. Gadde Anuradha, included prize-giving ceremonies, speeches, the awarding of mementoes to the Cycle India 2016 team and was rounded off by the cutting of Dr Prasad’s birthday cake. The festivities over, the following day, February 17, marked a far less spectacular, but equally historic occasion as one of the preschool classrooms was made operational for the very first time following a small ribbon-cutting ceremony. The first group of preschoolers had fun drawing on chalkboards and singing songs with teachers to mark the official opening of the Jasti Kameswari Preschool wing, which will become fully operational in time for the start of the next academic year in June. Also completed in time for HEAL Day were the guest rooms in the Rajeswari Girls Dormitory building. Members of the Cycle India 2016 team stayed there for two days at the end of their 11-day fundraising visit to Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. The Rajeswari Girls Dorms at Paradise Village, sponsored by The Hans Foundation The finishing touches are being applied to the building, sponsored by HEAL’s principal partners The Hans Foundation, ready for the Paradise School girl students to move in ahead of the new academic year. Work has already begun on Phase Two of the Paradise Village model development, with guest cottages under construction. Work will soon begin on a health centre and sports centre, both fully funded, while HEAL is seeking donations for its new staff quarters block. Visit www.healparadise.org for more information.
