Sponsor a child in India

Sponsor a child in India

Child sponsorship is a wonderful way to bring hope and change to a child living in poverty. HEAL now offers five levels for you to sponsor a child in India, including children studying out our Institute for the Visually Challenged

1. Poverty Trap Sponsorship – £14 / month ($20 / month in US)

The first way you can sponsor a child in India is through our Poverty Trap programme. The HEAL Poverty Trap Project involves supporting existing schools to provide more children from very underprivileged backgrounds with an education. Your sponsorship will pay for a school uniform, books, stationary, a midday meal, and a contribution towards the teaching staff for a child from a family who could not otherwise afford it. Families requesting this kind of support are checked out by the governors of the schools to ensure that we support only the most needy cases. There are currently around 300 children at Bhadrachalam.

2. Residential Sponsorship – £20 / month ($30 / month in US)

HEAL’s Children’s Village near Guntur and HEAL Paradise Village are each home to about 200 orphans and underprivileged children who benefit from a loving home, meals, education and health care. For many of the children, this is their first experience of a stable and nurturing environment. Your sponsorship will pay for housing expenses as well as schooling and medical care for a child. HEAL Paradise Village is still in the development phase and will eventually become home to 1,000 orphaned and impoverished children, so residential sponsorship will become an increasingly important way to sponsor a child in India through HEAL.

Please Note: HEAL may not always be able to guarantee sponsorship of children of a specific age or sex, but whenever possible we will do our best to offer alternatives from either our residential or poverty trap projects if we are unable to meet a specific request for those wishing to sponsor a child in India.

3. Higher Education Sponsorship – £60 / month ($80 / month US)

Many of the children in HEAL’s care, who are growing up to become young students, would like to go on to Further Education in order to help secure their future.

Teachers within the HEAL Children’s Village schools assess those pupils who they believe are capable of going on to successfully further their education. Currently, the Further Education budget is £12,000 ($18,500) per annum and this is likely to grow as the charity expands.

4. Life Sponsorship – one-off payment of £2500 ($3500 US / INR 2 lakhs)

HEAL has recently added an exciting new way to sponsor a child in India. Our new Life Sponsorship programme allows sponsors to make a single one-off payment which will provide a child with all the financial backing they need for their entire time as a student with HEAL. These one-off payments will be held in an endowment fund on fixed deposit and will help to secure HEAL’s long-term ability to provide support for the growing number of children in its care.

5. Sponsor a Visually Challenged Child – £15 / month

It is now possible to specify if you would like to sponsor one of the children studying at the Phanendra Chunduri Institute for the Visually Challenged at Paradise Village. These children have been brought to HEAL to take advantage of the excellent facilities on offer, including a computer room a braille/digital library, a low vision lab and sensory gardens. Sponsors are currently needed for 17 unsighted or partially sighted children, with the Institute designed to cater for up to 100 visually challenged children in the future.
